Scholarships & Awards.

As part of our commitment to excellence and theater education, the New Players Company recognizes several outstanding seniors with awards and scholarships. 

All seniors are invited to apply for the Jack Boyle Memorial scholarship by submitting an essay on "What does it mean to be a New Player". All essays are read blindly and the winner is selected by a small committee of board members.

Three additional awards — the Joe Jefferson Award for Acting, the Joe Jefferson Award for Techinical Theatre, and the Dr. Meg Schaefer Director’s Award — are selected by the Artistic Director.

  • Joe Jefferson Award for Acting

    Presented to a senior New Player who has demonstrated strong acting technique and exceptional talent on stage.

  • Joe Jefferson Award for Technical Theatre

    Presented to a senior New Player who has demonstrated exceptional mastery over one or more areas of technical theater.

  • Dr. Meg Schaefer Director's Award

    Presented to a senior New Player who had demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to the Company.
