Scholarships & Awards.

As part of our commitment to excellence and theater education, the New Players Company recognizes several outstanding seniors with awards and scholarships. Three additional awards — the Joe Jefferson Award for Acting, the Joe Jefferson Award for Techinical Theatre, and the Dr. Meg Schaefer Director’s Award — are selected by the Artistic Director.

All seniors are invited to apply for the Jack Boyle Memorial scholarship by submitting an essay on "What does it mean to be a New Player". All essays are read blindly and the winner is selected by a small committee of board members.

  • Joe Jefferson Award for Acting

    Presented to a senior New Player who has demonstrated strong acting technique and exceptional talent on stage.

  • Joe Jefferson Award for Technical Theatre

    Presented to a senior New Player who has demonstrated exceptional mastery over one or more areas of technical theater.

  • Dr. Meg Schaefer Director's Award

    Presented to a senior New Player who had demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to the Company.
